Parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) 30 LED bulbs control light more precisely. They produce about four times the concentrated light intensity of general service A shape incandescents, and are used in recessed and track lighting. Like all light bulbs, the 30 value represents the diameter of the bulb in 1⁄8 of an inch. Therefore, PAR 30 is 3.75 inches in diameter.
PAR30 LED light bulbs are specifically designed as an energy efficient replacement for halogen bulbs. Even though LEDs have a higher up-front cost than halogens, they generate over 85% energy savings and need to be replaced less frequently. Many PAR30 bulbs can last up to 40,000 hours. PAR30 LED bulbs also have multiple color temperature and beam angle options available.
- 2700K (Warm White)
- 3000K (Soft White)
- 3500K (Neutral White)
- 4000K (Cool White)
- 5000K (Daylight)
- Narrow Spot: 10 degree or less beam angle
- Spot: 15 degree beam angle
- Narrow Flood: 25 degree beam angle
- Flood: 36 degree beam angle
- Wide Flood: 50 degree or greater beam angle
There are only two types of LED PAR30 bulbs available, short neck and long neck. Short neck PAR30 bulbs work great in recessed fixtures with shallow housings, whereas long neck PAR30 bulbs are more suitable for directional light fixtures.
PAR30 LED bulbs are commonly used in directional, recessed and track lighting applications. However, many have a CRI (color rendering index) that is greater than 90, making them perfect for museum lighting, art displays, and retail applications.
