Reflector (R) or Bulged Reflector (BR) 40 LED bulbs have a reflective coating on the inside of the bulb that directs light forward. Flood types (FL) spread light. Spot types (SP) concentrate the light. Reflector (R) bulbs put approximately double the amount of light (foot-candles) on the front central area as General Service (A) of same wattage. Like all light bulbs, the 40 value represents the diameter of the bulb in 1⁄8 of an inch. Therefore, a R40 is 5 inches in diameter.
LED R/BR40 LED light bulbs are designed to replace traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs while using substantially less energy but still producing the same light output to help save money on electricity costs. These LEDs also last longer and turn on instantly, providing you years of quality light without the need of constant replacement. These R/BR40 bulbs also come in a variety of different lumen outputs and color temperatures. They're offered in warm white that closely resembles the color emitted from incandescent and halogen bulbs, and are available in cooler whites that have been proven to reduce eye strain and fatigue.
R/BR40 LED bulbs are commonly found in track lighting, recessed can light fixtures, and flood light fixtures due to their ability to broadcast a uniform light output with a wide beam spread.
