Reflector (R) or Bulged Reflector (BR) 20 LED bulbs have a reflective coating on the inside of the bulb that directs light forward. Flood types (FL) spread light. Spot types (SP) concentrate the light. Reflector (R) bulbs put approximately double the amount of light (foot-candles) on the front central area as General Service (A) of same wattage. Like all light bulbs, the 20 value represents the diameter of the bulb in 1⁄8 of an inch. Therefore, a R/BR 20 light bulb is 2.5 inches in diameter.
LED R/BR20 bulbs are designed to replace traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs with a more energy-efficient solution. With the inclusion of LED technology, these R/BR20 bulbs save on energy consumption and last longer than their predecessors. Unlike traditional incandescent and halogen options that only offered 2700K and 3000K color temperatures respectively, R/BR20 LED bulbs have multiple color temperature options that range from 2700K to 5000K. Some even have warm dimming capabilities which dims down, not only the light output, but the color temperature from 2700K to 2200K.
R/BR20 LED bulbs are commonly used in flood light fixtures, track lighting, or recessed can light fixtures. There are even options with a high color rendering index. With a CRI of 90+, these R/BR20 bulbs can help make colors vibrant and appear truer to their natural state.
